Tip #1: Pick a signature color to unify your porch.
A porch can be covered in pretty items but still feel haphazard if there is no unifying color or color scheme. Running a signature color (in this case, shades of turquoise) through your furniture, door hanger, planters, and other decor helps to unify your porch into one cohesive look. Want a full blown color scheme, but don't know where to start? Here's our simple tip: Pick a decor item that you already love like a sign or throw pillow. Then use the colors found on that item. In the example below, we used the colors from the Sunflower Truck Sign to select the colors for the rest of the porch! |
Tip #2: Add wood signs to give your porch rustic flair.
Wood signs are so trendy right now. Whether you pick one up from your favorite home decor shop, purchase one of our Sign Painting Kits, or build your own, you can add a lot of personality quickly with a beautiful sign. It can be hard to find one that works perfectly with your color scheme, so painting your own is an easy and relaxing way to solve that problem. Not an artist? Not to worry. We sketch it all out for you and provide you with all of the paint and brushes that you need! |
Tip #3: Use your door to give your guests a colorful greeting.
It's very likely that Christmas is the only time that you hang something on your door. That valuable decorative real estate should hold something to greet your guests all year long. Your door is the focal point of your porch. It's a great place to express yourself! Whether you use a wreath, an adorable wooden door hanger, a mosaic, or a sign, your door decor will likely be the first thing that people notice when they look at your porch. Tip #4: Change textures for added interest. If everything on your porch has a similar texture, adding in something new will break up the monotony. Metal art, glass art, and mosaics are a great way to do this! Simply placing a mosaic piece on a small display easel, laying it flat on a table as a centerpiece, or hanging it on the wall will add a new level of sophistication to your porch! |
Tip #5: Use planters and flower pots to express yourself!
Putting gorgeous flowers in a boring planter is wasting yet another opportunity to express your personality. The great news is that it's easy to paint a flower pot that you'll love. Tip #6: Use small details to express big personality. Having perfectly balanced porch decor means having both large and small items. This gives your eye the ability to focus on both the big picture and details as it travels across your porch. Small items like gnomes and animal figurines make a big statement. |
