Jennifer Baker is the owner and director of the Sketching Pad. She has been painting since she was a child and was inspired to teach art professionally by Kathy Ash, who instructed her for ten years. Jennifer has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She came to the Sketching Pad in 2011 and has absolutely loved every moment of sharing her passion for art with the community. Jennifer is a 2014 Leadership Rockdale graduate and a proud member of the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and the Olde Town Merchants Association. She is proficient in nearly all drawing and painting media, but watercolor and oil are her favorites. Jennifer regularly does commissions for architectural renderings, portraits, and more. She absolutely loves creating art, sharing art with others, helping the community to grow!
Andrew Baker is co-owner and and an instructor here at the Sketching Pad. He has been an artist since he was a small child and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design. He is also a math teacher in Rockdale County and is highly passionate about helping young people learn, grow, and become successful, fulfilled adults. His specialties here at the Sketching Pad include drawing in graphite, charcoal, and pastels, and he is also our resident Minecraft expert!
Orrin Morris is the founder of the Sketching Pad! In addition to founding the Sketching Pad, he was also a founder of the Conyers Rockdale Council for the Arts, and he has been a respected and well appreciated artist in this community for decades. He has so much to offer the students of the Sketching Pad. Orrin specializes in portraits and wildflowers, and his media of choice are pencil, colored pencil, scratchboard, and pen and ink. Both his artwork and his writing are featured in the Rockdale Citizen regularly, and he is often asked to speak at churches, civic organizations, and clubs throughout the community. He is one of the leaders at Trinity Baptist Church, and he loves showing people their tremendous potential in all areas of life!
Laura Woodall is an instructor at the Sketching Pad that focuses on illustration. She is a former student of Orrin Morris and assisted him through high school. She is a graduate of Portfolio Center, a highly acclaimed commercial art school in Atlanta, and has a Graduate Studies certificate in illustration and design. She has achieved multiple awards including 3 Gold and 2 Silver Awards for illustration in quarterly competitions and her art has been accepted into the 52nd Illustration West Competition - Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles. She has been trained in a multitude of different styles and media including cartooning, comics, visual story telling, patterning, logo design, pen and ink, acrylics, watercolors and much more. She has had the pleasure of studying under Gary Albright (former art director of Cartoon Network), and Brian Stelfreeze (former DC comic artist for Batman and original designer of Nightwing) who have been major inspirations in her artistic journey. The art of storytelling has become her passion and illustration is her stage. She loves helping others explore their own creative potential and in doing so invites them to step into their own story that is uniquely their own. Laura uses her talents to teach a variety of weekly classes at the Sketching Pad, including: Foundations, Illustration, Drawing, Painting, and Art Exploration!
Jill Adamsis an instructor for painting parties and weekly classes. Jill started out as an assistant to Orrin Morris and has been with the studio for over fifteen years! Her combination of artistic talent and homeschool education make her the perfect instructor for our homeschool program. She attended North Ga Technical College where she studied commercial photography. Orrin Morris and Jennifer Baker have been very inspirational to her, and they have always encouraged her in her artwork and instruction of classes. She loves trying and mastering techniques in all different mediums!
